A NIGHT’S TALE

A NIGHT’S TALE

I cocked it
And pulled on the trigger
Light exploded toward the darkness
Nowhere in the darkness it hit something

This felt so fine
I pulled on the trigger some more
Till I could no more
Smoke rose before me in the darkness

The sound exploded into emptiness
There I stood blinded by light
In pitch blackness
Out there in nowhere

How long I stood there
I really don’t know
Until the sun beamed
Onto my ashen face

The blanket of cold lifted
Leaving behind only dew on the leaves
I put the limp body in the trunk
Then went on my way home
