I sat by a
well of tears
Pondering
over what it was
On why the
tears meant feelings
Feelings
devoid of thirst
My throat
was parched
The
surroundings green
The well
swelled occasionally
And so, did
my heart
Tears from
the deep welled up
My eyes turned
foggy and moist
My heart
was dully throbbing
As she
smiled a sad lonely smile
I asked her
the meaning of this
But she
shook her head and smiled
She said
the truth was defined by its lies
And that
lies added value to the truth
It is an
old saying, she said
The meaning
only remained
While the
words were lost
As were
most feelings
I asked her
if the truth was real
And if it
mattered to cattle like us
She looked
away to the dying light
I looked at
her and saw her think
She finally
looked away from the light and to me
As the
twilight progressed, she said that it was so
She sat quietly
after speaking this and added nothing more
For nothing
more was needed
I turned
away to the land lay ahead
I nodded to
her after a while
She did the
same and turned to look
At the
pastures where the cattle bred
She seemed
to be lost in her thoughts
She had
forgotten that I was by her side all the while
We sat in
silence as the birds alone chirped
She seemed
to think every word has its weight, with which I agreed
The sun was
lost to a horde of clouds as the sky turned to crimson
The blood
of the sky turned dark as the stars started to shine bright
The evening
passed into night and we sat still looking ahead
Two people
that couldn’t be more different to the last, yet braved the sordid night
